App shows who is polluting – level 2
15-05-2015 07:00
16 of the world’s 20 cities with the worst air pollution are in China. Now, there is an app people in China can use to see what factories are exceeding the standards of air pollution. People can share the data on social media and with officials who protect the environment.
One official likes the app because he thinks that it helps the public interact with the government and it will help China fix the problems of pollution. However, he is also surprised that the government wanted to share the data.
Difficult words: exceed (to do something too much), standard (rule), interact (to do something with someone else).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
Would you use this app in your country?
