Nepali New Year – level 3

Thousands of people came to Bhaktapur, Nepal, to celebrate Nepali New Year. People call it Sindoor Jatra and it is also the annual festival to celebrate spring.

To mark the occasion, people dance, sing, and throw vermilion powder all over everyone and everywhere. Celebrants also pray for good harvests during the monsoon season to follow.

Difficult words: mark the occasion (make an event special or different), vermilion (an orange-red colour), monsoon (when a lot of rain falls for a long time).
