Fires from California to Japan – level 1

It is very hot in many countries. There are wildfires in some countries. This is because the vegetation is so dry. There are wildfires in Portugal, California and Japan.

The fire in California is the biggest in the state’s history. People call it the ‘Holy Fire’. The fire is bigger than New York! It already burnt 283,800 acres of land or more.

Difficult words: wildfire (a large, dangerous fire of forests and plants), vegetation (plants), dry (without water), burnt (past of ‘burn’ – destroy by fire).
