Veterans Block Roads – level 3

Kosovo was a Serbian province up until the 1990s when war between Albanians and Serbians broke out. In 1998, Serbia attacked Albanian separatists and killed over 10,000 people.
This month, Albanian war veterans from Kosovo blocked roads to stop a visit by the Serbian president Vucic. They burned the tires and placed large logs and heavy machinery in the roads. One veteran said that he and the other soldiers stopped tanks from coming down this road, so there was no way that the president was going to come, either.
Difficult words: province (an area in a country), separatist (someone who wants a part of a country to be its own country), heavy machinery (large vehicles for doing construction work).
