Attack at Chinese Consulate – level 3
30-11-2018 07:00
In Karachi, Pakistan, an attack happened at the Chinese consulate, killing two police officers and two civilians who were collecting Chinese visas.
There is a video of the attack but it is unclear whether the people filmed are the attackers or the security services arriving in response.
The Balochistan Liberation Army, a separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attack because it does not want China in Pakistan. It calls China an ‘oppressor’.
Difficult words: consulate (a building used for diplomacy – talks among countries), visa (special permission on a passport that says a person can enter, leave or stay for a certain time in a country), liberation (freedom), separatist (breakaway), oppressor (a country which makes other countries do what they want them to do).
