Apple Bag Search – level 2
21-02-2020 15:00
Apple stores say that employees have to clock out before their bags, packages, and personal Apple devices are checked.
Employees estimate that the checks can take 5 to 20 minutes. Now the highest court in California, USA, says that Apple must pay its employees for this time spent at work.
Apple said that people can leave their personal things at home, but the court said that Apple’s own CEO said that people would not want to leave their iPhones at home.
The court said that the back pay could go as far back as the summer of 2009.
Difficult words: clock out (to formally say that you are done at work for the day), estimate (to guess carefully), back pay (money that you are owed from work).
