Lebanon walkie-talkie explosions – level 2

23-09-2024 15:00

In Lebanon, more than 100 people got hurt, and at least three died from walkie-talkies that exploded. The Lebanese Red Cross said there were many blasts in different areas of the country, in the south and east. This happened one day after similar pager explosions. Some people think the Israeli spy agency Mossad is behind the attacks, but Israel didn’t say anything about them. Hezbollah uses these devices to talk to its fighters and is now in trouble because of this.

Many people are angry because civilians got hurt. Experts say Hezbollah will respond, but not in a way that starts a big war.

Difficult words: walkie-talkie (a two-way radio which you can carry around), pager (a small electronic equipment which vibrates or makes a noise to tell you that someone wants you to call them), spy agency (a group of people whose job is to find out secret information about other people or country).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What is the speculated reason behind the explosions of walkie-talkies in Lebanon and who are suspected to be responsible for these attacks?
