Electric racing cars – level 2

24-09-2024 07:00

Formula Student is a competition where students build and race electric cars. Teams from 100 universities around the world take part in events across Europe.

The cars compete in several challenges, such as autocross, endurance, and speed tests. AMZ Racing, a team from Switzerland, broke a world record by accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in less than a second. The team designs a new car each year and works on improving it.

The competition’s goal is not just winning but also learning engineering skills. Many students learn a lot and may use this experience in their future careers. AMZ Racing won events in Switzerland, Hungary, and Germany, and their car uses special technology to stick to the track better.

Difficult words: autocross (a form of competition in which cars go around an obstacle course), endurance (a test of lasting for a long time), accelerate (to increase speed).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What are some of the challenges in the Formula Student competition and which team broke a world record for acceleration?
