Maggie Smith is a very famous British actress. She dies last week. She is 89 years old. She dies in the hospital with her family around her.

Smith’s famous role is Professor McGonagall in Harry Potter and the Dowager Countess in Downton Abbey. She also wins two Oscars for her great acting. The British Prime Minister says that Maggie is a national treasure. People love her very much.

Her family says that Smith is a very private person. They are very sad now. Many people remember her amazing work on TV, in movies, and in theatre.
