North Korean soldiers may help Russia – level 2

24-10-2024 07:00

South Korea’s spy agency reported that North Korea is sending soldiers to help Russia in its war with Ukraine.

The news comes after Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky said that up to 10,000 North Korean troops could join the conflict soon. According to South Korea, 1,500 soldiers already went to Russia.

Also, since August 2023, North Korea sent over 13,000 containers with weapons to Russia. Western countries are becoming increasingly worried about North Korea’s involvement in the war.

Both North Korea and Russia say that these things are not true. NATO didn’t confirm the news, but South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol called for countries to help deal with this dangerous situation.

Difficult words: spy agency (an organization which finds out secret information about another organization or country), increasingly (more and more), involvement (taking part in something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What is the estimated number of North Korean troops that Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky said could join the conflict soon, according to South Korea's spy agency?
