Good news – level 2

25-10-2024 15:00

This week has some good news.

China built the world’s largest wind turbine, which will help produce clean energy. Another important story is about Heman Bekele, a teenager who invented soap to help stop skin cancer. The soap has ingredients that stay on the skin after washing. It is useful in places where medicine is expensive. Denmark started a new carbon tax on farms. Farmers will pay a tax based on the greenhouse gases their animals produce. This will help reduce pollution.

Also, students invented a small, cheap device that detects wildfires. It can sense heat, which could help stop fires early. Lastly, a city in the Netherlands banned all ads promoting fossil fuels.

Difficult words: turbine (a machine which produces power), carbon tax (a price which a company must pay for each ton of greenhouse gas it produces), pollution (making water, air, or land dirty).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
