A yacht sinks – level 1
23-08-2024 07:00
A yacht sinks near Sicily, Italy. The incident happens on Monday.
Rescuers find two bodies. Six people are still lost. One of them is a British businessman Mike Lynch and his daughter. The boat is deep underwater. Divers find it hard to get inside. They are using robots to help them. The captain of the yacht is safe. He is in the hospital.
Authorities do not know what causes the accident yet. But they believe there is a water spout. A water spout is something like a water tornado. Rescuers are still looking for other people, but it is very difficult.
Difficult words: yacht (a boat), cause (to make something happen), difficult (not easy).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What challenges are divers facing while trying to access the sunken yacht?
