An attack on Argentinian vice-president – level 2
07-09-2022 15:00
In Buenos Aires, a man attacked Argentina’s vice-president Christina Fernández de Kircher outside her home.
Fernández de Kircher was meeting with her supporters, when suddenly, a man pointed a gun at her. He pulled the trigger, but luckily, the gun didn’t fire. Nothing happened to the vice-president. Later, officials said that five bullets were in the gun.
The Argentinian president said that the attack was so serious that he called the next day a national holiday. Hundreds of thousands of people met in the center of Buenos Aires to show support for the vice-president.
Difficult words: vice-president (a person who does the president’s job when he can’t do it), supporter (a person who agrees with someone’s ideas or opinions), trigger (a part of a gun which makes it fire a bullet).
