Australia social media ban – level 1

13-09-2024 07:00

Australia wants to stop children from using social media like Facebook and Instagram. Some politicians say that social media is bad for children’s mental health.

The government is making a new rule this year. This rule will say how old kids must be when they use social media. It will probably be for kids between 14 and 16 years old. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says that children should play outside and spend time with real friends. He believes that social media is not good for them.

Some people think this is a good idea. Others think kids need social media to talk to friends.

Difficult words: mental health (how you feel and how you can learn and remember things), rule (something you must or must not do), probably (when it seems that something is true or will happen).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What age range is the Australian government considering for the new rule regarding children's use of social media, and what is Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's stance on this issue?
