Beetles in a small town – level 1

Santa Isabel is a small town in Argentina. It has a problem with beetles. The weather is very hot. It is not usual for this time of year. It rains a lot, too. The weather is perfect for beetles.
Millions of beetles come from the ground. They see the streetlights of Santa Isabel. They like the lights. They come to the town.
It is a problem for people. The beetles are everywhere. They are not very dangerous. Sadly, they can hurt people as they fly. They have a hard shell.
Local authorities have an idea. They turn off the lights at night. Many beetles leave after three days.
Difficult words: beetle (an insect that flies or crawls on the ground), streetlight (a light on a tall post along a road), shell (a hard case for some animals, for example turtles or snails).
