Christian Woman in Pakistan – level 1

Asia Bibi is from Pakistan. She is Christian. In 2009, she gets in trouble. People say that she says bad things about Islam’s Prophet.

This is a very serious crime in Pakistan. The court sentences her to death. This happens in 2010.

In 2018, she is not killed. The court sets her free. This makes some people angry. Hundreds of people protest. Mrs Bibi’s plans now are to leave the country.

Difficult words: court (people who tell you if you are a criminal or not), sentence (say what a criminal must do).
