Fewer people pay for The New York Times – level 1
08-11-2024 07:00
In the last three months, The New York Times (NYT) gets fewer new online subscribers. People are spending less money.
NYT has 260,000 new online subscribers. But this number is not as high as the company hopes. NYT gets 8.8% more money from ads. But its stock price goes down by 8%. Experts say that high prices and other companies make it hard for NYT to get more paying subscribers.
NYT hopes to have 15 million online subscribers by 2027. But it may be difficult. For the next three months, NYT thinks that its subscription revenue will go up by 7% to 9%
Difficult words: subscriber (a person who pays for a service every month, year, and so on), stock price (how much a share, or a part of a company, costs), revenue (money which you get from doing business).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What is the New York Times' target number of online subscribers by 2027 and what are the projected subscription revenue increases for the next three months?
