Generation Amazing – level 3

28-02-2025 15:00

Nasser Al-Khori leads Generation Amazing, a foundation created as part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 legacy.

He believes sport has the power to transform lives, especially for marginalized children. His team organizes programs that teach young people important life skills, not just football techniques. They also provide psychosocial support to children affected by war and conflict. One of their key projects in Doha helps Palestinian children evacuated from Gaza. Through sports and writing workshops, they can express their emotions and overcome trauma. The foundation also trains coaches to support communities in need.

On a global level, Generation Amazing works with governments and organizations to promote sports as a tool for social change. Famous athletes like David Beckham and Xavi support their mission. Al-Khori, who is also a UNESCO chair, aims to influence policies that use sports to build stronger communities. He believes young people today are more connected than ever, which gives hope for a better future.

Difficult words: marginalized (not included or treated fairly in society), psychosocial (related to both mental and social well-being), trauma (deep emotional pain caused by a bad experience).

How are sports and creative workshops used to support the development and healing of marginalized children, including those impacted by war and conflict?
