German carmakers have problems – level 1

Volkswagen is the biggest car company in Germany. The company is thinking about cutting jobs. Some reports say that 30,000 people can lose their jobs. This is because car sales in Germany are not good.
Other German companies, like Mercedes-Benz and BMW, have similar problems. Volkswagen says it needs to save money. But the company does not know what to do yet.
The German government wants to help, but Volkswagen must solve the problem. Part of the problem is that car sales in China are not as strong as before. China also has new car companies. It is harder for Volkswagen to sell cars there.
