Global IT outage – level 1
23-07-2024 07:00
On Friday, there is a big tech problem.
CrowdStrike is a company which makes antivirus software. This software keeps computers safe. But their update for Microsoft Windows causes computers to crash all over the world. This causes many problems. Planes cannot fly. Banks, hospitals, and payment systems also have problems. Experts fix the problem but it will take a lot of time to restart all the computers.
Microsoft says that the crash impacts 8.5 million computers. This is a serious problem. UK and German IT agencies warn that some people can do illegal things. This shows how much we need technology and how we connect everything. It will take time to fix all the problems.
Difficult words: update (new software version), payment (when you pay money), connect (to bring together or into contact).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What does CrowdStrike's antivirus software update for Microsoft Windows cause, and what are some of the consequences of this issue?
