Greece has little water – level 1
09-09-2024 15:00
In Greece, Lake Mornos is shrinking because of bad weather. This lake gives water to almost half of the people in Greece.
After a winter with no snow and a very hot summer, the lake is now very low. As the water goes down, an old village called Kallio is showing up again. Water covers the village in 1980 when workers make the lake. The land around the lake is dry and cracked.
Scientists say that climate change is making the weather worse. If there is no rain in the next winter, the problem can get worse.
Difficult words: shrink (to get smaller), cover (to put something over something else), cracked (damaged with thin lines on the top).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What is the potential consequence if there is no rain in the next winter, according to scientists?
