Gun violence is a big problem in the US. Gun violence is when somebody attacks another person with a gun.

More than 8,100 people die in the US in the first six months of 2021. This is because somebody shoots them. It is the highest number in the last 20 years. 120 people die from gun violence last weekend.

The situation is getting worse. There are many reasons why this happens. More people have guns. There are more problems with police and communities. Some people believe that people of different skin colors do not have the same chances to live a good life.

Difficult words: reason (why something happens), community (a group of people who live in the same place, and they have similar ideas, culture, or skin color), chance (the situation when something can happen).
