A group of 28 men with guns kill the Haitian president Jovenel Moise. It happens last week at Moise’s home. The men hurt Moise’s wife, too. She must go to hospital.

Moise is 53 years old. He becomes the president in 2017. The political situation in Haiti is bad.

There must be elections again in 2019. They do not happen. Moise continues in his job. Some politicians are angry.

Haiti is a very poor country. The situation is very bad there for many years. People fight in the streets. Some people worry that the situation will be even worse now.

Difficult words: elections (when people choose a person for a job in politics), continue (to keep doing something), poor (with no or little money).
