Hamza bin Laden – level 3
20-09-2019 15:00
Hamza bin Laden, Osama bin Laden’s son, was officially announced as a member of Al-Qaeda in 2015.
In 2016, he released an audio message calling for Syrian jihadists to take action to liberate Palestinians. He also threatened to revenge against the USA after the death of his father.
Earlier this year, the State Department, which is the department in the US government dealing with foreign affairs, offered a $1 million reward for information on Hamza bin Laden’s whereabouts. People reported his death in July, but it was not confirmed until last Saturday.
The White House said in a statement that he was killed in a US counter-terrorism operation in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region. It went on to say that bin Laden’s death deprived Al-Qaeda of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father.
Difficult words: department (part), whereabouts (the place where someone is), deprive (take away).
