Harrison Ford speaks to students – level 2
18-05-2026 07:00
Harrison Ford got a special honorary degree for his work helping the planet. More than 30 years ago, he started to work to save forests, oceans, and wildlife.
He is also a pilot who uses his own planes to help people in need, like when he flew doctors and medicine to Haiti after a big earthquake. During the ceremony, Ford gave a speech to the students. He told them that when he was young, he was shy and not a very good student. Finding acting helped him, but he only found true meaning in his life when he started helping nature.
He told the students that love gets you out of bed, but purpose lets you sleep at night. He asked the young people to take care of the Earth and to be leaders who build a better future.
Difficult words: honorary degree (a special university title for someone who didn’t study there), ceremony (a formal event to celebrate something), purpose (the reason why you do something).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What did Harrison Ford say gets you out of bed, and what did he say lets you sleep at night?
