Huawei introduced a 2,800-dollar smartphone called the Mate XT. It can fold three ways.

The phone also includes smart features like text editing and photo editing. It came out just hours after Apple launched its new iPhone 16. Over 4 million people already pre-ordered the phone in China. Even though Huawei is leading in the foldable smartphone market with 27.5% of the global share, experts say the high price and limited production may not affect big companies like Apple and Samsung much.

Mate XT shows Huawei’s strong technology, but foldable phones are still not a large part of the whole smartphone market. Huawei is successful despite US sanctions, which mean using chips from China.
