Hungary protest – level 1
10-10-2024 07:00
People in Budapest protest. They want the press to be free.
Péter Magyar is the leader of the TISZA party. He organizes the protest. He says the public media only shows what the government wants and tells lies. His party is getting stronger. They win 30% of the vote in the last elections.
Reporters Without Borders says that the government controls most of the media in Hungary. Some people, like Balázs Tömpe and Ágnes Gera, are angry. They believe that the media does not show different opinions. Magyar asks the director of public media to leave his job. He asks people to join another protest on October 23.
Difficult words: media (TV, radio, internet, and so on), opinion (what someone thinks or feels), join (to take part).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What percentage of the vote did Péter Magyar's TISZA party win in the last elections?
