iCloud costs too much – level 2
19-11-2024 15:00
People sue Apple in the UK for making 40 million customers use its iCloud service and charging high prices.
A consumer group called ’Which?’ says Apple broke competition rules by reducing customer choices and keeping other services out of the market. The group believes Apple owes British customers around 3 billion pounds, with each getting about 70 pounds.
Apple denies this. The company says people don’t have to use iCloud and can choose other services. But ’Which?’ argues it is difficult for users to leave Apple’s system once they start. This case is one of many against big companies like Google and Facebook. Such cases take a long time, but ’Which?’ says they are ready to fight until customers get fair treatment.
Difficult words: competition (when businesses try to be better than others to win customers), choice (what you can choose), deny (to say that something is not true).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What is the consumer group 'Which?' accusing Apple of, and how much do they believe Apple owes British customers?
