Kosovo crisis – level 1
05-06-2023 15:00
In Kosovo are problems with ethnic Serbs. NATO is sending more soldiers there.
The problem starts when Albanians enter government buildings. The Serbs get angry. They try to stop them. The police use tear gas. Serbia sends more soldiers to the border with Kosovo. The Serbs protest again. They say that the Albanian mayors and Kosovo police must leave the north of Kosovo. Some soldiers and protesters are hurt in fights with ethnic Serbs.
NATO’s boss, Jens Stoltenberg, says that the fighting must stop. NATO will do everything to keep everyone safe. Stoltenberg wants to start talks.
Difficult words: ethnic (belonging to a race or group of people), enter (to get into), tear gas (a gas which makes your eyes sore).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
