Manchester United’s new stadium – level 2

14-03-2025 15:00

Manchester United will build a new stadium with 100,000 seats, making it the biggest in the UK.

The club says it will be the world’s greatest stadium. It will help the economy by bringing 7.3 billion pounds every year. It is also part of a plan to improve the Old Trafford area. The project will create 92,000 jobs and 17,000 homes. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is one of the club’s owners. He said that Old Trafford was a great stadium for 115 years but is now old. The new stadium will be next to it, which will keep the club’s history but make it modern.

The government wants to improve the north of England, and Manchester United believes this stadium will help. They hope it will be famous, like Wembley or the Eiffel Tower.

Difficult words: improve (to make something better), owner (a person who has something and it belongs to them), modern (new and up-to-date).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How will this project revitalize the Old Trafford area through economic and community developments?
