Marocco caves – level 1
18-09-2024 07:00
Bhalil is a small town in Morocco. Many people in Bhalil live inside caves.
These caves are very old. People live in them for hundreds of years. Some families live in their caves for generations. Living in the caves can be hard. They can get wet. People must clean them often. Some people like Najia Sribet still live in their caves. Others like Thami Anjam, open their caves for tourists to visit. The caves have lights and water to make them nice for visitors. Bhalil has many tourists, and this helps the town make money.
Today, people like modern houses more. Many caves are empty. The people of Bhalil want to repair the caves. They want to save the caves and bring more tourists, too.
Difficult words: cave (a large hole in a hill or mountain), generation (different groups of people in a family, like grandparents, parents, and children), empty (without anything or anyone inside).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are some of the challenges of living in the caves of Bhalil and how do the residents adapt to these conditions?
