NASA astronauts spacewalk – level 3
08-12-2022 15:00
Astronauts Josh Cassada and Frank Rubio ventured into space for the longest spacewalk in both astronauts’ careers.
In an operation that took seven hours, the NASA astronauts delivered six new solar arrays for for the International Space Station (ISS). Space X’s Dragon cargo craft delivered the array on November 27, 2022, and it’ll provide the ISS with up to 30% more power. According to NASA, it’ll create a total of 120 kilowatts of energy during orbital daytime to support the station operations and scientific research.
Out of six to install, these solar arrays are the third and fourth. Overall, they will increase the station’s total available power to up to 215 kilowatts.
Difficult words: venture (to undertake an exciting or risky journey), array (an arrangement of things of a similar kind), orbital daytime (the length of day for a thing rotating around Earth)
