Olympics in South Korea – level 1

The 2018 Winter Olympics begin. They take place in Pyeongchang. It is a city in South Korea.

The opening ceremony starts the Olympic Games. There is a show of fireworks. Many people watch at the stadium.

North Korean officials also come to the opening ceremony. Kim Jong-un’s sister is there. All of them like the show.

Difficult words: take place (happen), opening ceremony (a big event which starts the Olympic Games), fireworks (special bombs which are beautiful when they explode), officials (important people sent by the ‘bosses’ of a country).
