Russia and the space station – level 1
01-08-2022 07:00
The International Space Station (ISS) is a space science station above Earth. Russia, the US, Canada, Japan, and other countries work together there.
Many people believe that Russia and the US are important to the station. Russian machines control the position. US power runs the station.
Russia surprises the US’s space organization. The Russian space organization leader says that Russia will leave the ISS in 2024. The leader adds that Russia will finish its work. In 2024, he explains that Russia will focus on its space station.
The US’s space organization says that Russia did not tell this to them. They are supposed to tell them as part of their agreement. A US government speaker adds that they did not expect this situation.
Earlier this year, Russia starts to fight with Ukraine. After that time, Russia and the US stop their work together. The ISS is a last good activity for them.
Difficult words: space science station (a lab where scientists do science work in space), position (the place of a vehicle or an object), focus (to do work on one thing at one time).
