Russia prisoner swap – level 1
08-08-2024 07:00
On Friday, Russia exchanges prisoners with some countries. This is called a prisoner swap.
Sixteen people move from Russia to the West. Seven Russians are critics of President Putin. Some prisoners from Germany are happy. But they do not want to leave Russia. Three Americans go back home after over a year of difficult talks.
Some prisoners go back to Russia for example, Vadim Kasikov, a hitman in Germany. The Dultseva family lives in Slovenia as secret agents. For eight years, they keep saying that they are from Argentina. Even their small daughters do not know the truth. All family speak Spanish at home. Now, they are going back to Russia.
Even though the swap happens, the situation between Russia and the West does not get better.
Difficult words: exchange (to change something for something else), critic (a person who openly speaks against someone or something), hitman (a person who gets money to kill someone).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What do the Dultseva family claim about their origin while living in Slovenia?
