Russia prisoner swap – level 2
08-08-2024 07:00
On Friday, Russia revealed the names of some Russians involved in a big prisoner swap.
Vadim Krasikov, a hitman in Germany, and Artem and Anna Dultseva, with their two children, were part of the swap. The Dultseva family lived in Slovenia as secret agents. For eight years, they pretended to be from Argentina. Even their children didn’t know the truth because the family spoke Spanish at home.
Sixteen people moved from Russia to the West, including seven Russians who were critics of President Putin. Some freed prisoners from Germany were thankful but didn’t want to leave Russia. Three Americans also returned home, which was a success after over a year of talks.
Even though the swap happened, experts don’t believe it will bring better relations between Russia and the West.
Difficult words: involved (being a part of), prisoner swap (when two or more countries exchange prisoners), hitman (a person who gets money to kill someone).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What identities did the Dultseva family assume while living in Slovenia?
