Solar eclipse – level 2

18-10-2023 07:00

Many people in the Americas saw an annular solar eclipse. This event happens rarely when the moon moves in front of the sun, and it creates a ‘ring of fire’ in the sky.

26-year-old Oscar Lopez traveled from Mexico City to Campeche, Mexico, to see the eclipse, and he found it incredible.

NASA explained that the eclipse’s path stretched from the US Pacific Northwest to the Atlantic Ocean, and it passed over several countries. In Campeche, hundreds of people, including Isaac Solis, watched the moon gradually pass in front of the morning sun.

Difficult words: annular (like a ring), incredible (impossible to believe), path (a way in which a person or thing is moving).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What were some of the countries that the eclipse's path passed over?
