Southport attack – level 1
02-08-2024 07:00
Southport is a town in England. Something terrible happens there on Monday.
A young man attacks children with a knife. Three girls die. They are six, seven, and nine years old. Five other children and two adults are very hurt. This happens at a dance class. The boy is 17 years old. He moves from Cardiff to Southport in 2013. His parents are from Rwanda. The police arrest him. Officials come to the place and leave flowers there.
People in the town are very sad. They do not understand why the attack happens. Taylor Swift says that she is very sad, too. The police say this is not a terrorist attack. They are trying to find out why it happens. Many people are bringing flowers to show that they care.
Difficult words: terrible (very bad), adult (someone who is not a child anymore), find out (to learn some information).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What ages were the three girls who died in the attack?
