Tango World Championship – level 2
02-09-2024 15:00
The Tango World Championship in Argentina is an important event. Couples from many countries come to Buenos Aires to compete.
The event lasts two weeks and includes live music, dance classes, and social dances called milongas. Tango started in the 1800s near the River Plate between Argentina and Uruguay. It is now part of their cultural heritage. Competitors like Vanessa Giraldo and Jeison Ravagli from Colombia find it hard to save money to come, but they love Tango because it changes their lives.
A Tango teacher says that the Tango embrace shows respect and emotion. Tango brings people together with love and joy, making it an important part of life in Buenos Aires.
Difficult words: cultural heritage (things or buildings from people who lived before us), competitor (a person who takes part in an event to win), embrace (holding someone tightly with both hands).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What do competitors like Vanessa Giraldo and Jeison Ravagli find challenging about participating in the Tango World Championship?
