Teenagers kill Brianna Ghey – level 3
08-02-2024 07:00
Two teenagers Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe have been sentenced to life in prison for the exceptionally brutal murder of Brianna Ghey, a 16-year-old British transgender girl, in February last year.
The judge revealed the crime was partly motivated by Brianna’s transgender identity. Jenkinson, described as the driving force, received a minimum sentence of 22 years, and Ratcliffe, a former kickboxer, received 20 years. The murder was meticulously planned, with Jenkinson expressing a desire to kill and creating a kill list.
The judge warned that the pair might never be released if they remain a danger. The court heard disturbing details of the murder, including 28 stab wounds, and Jenkinson’s admission to wanting parts of Brianna’s body as a token.
Difficult words: meticulously (very carefully and precisely), token (a symbol or sign).
