Tough Guy Event – level 2
10-02-2015 15:00
Around 5,000 runners took part in the Tough Guy Event in England which is the hardest obstacle course in the world. People organise the race every year. They first held it in 1987.
Ropewalk, deep and icy water, mud, fire and much more awaited the competitors along the 8-mile (13 kilometres) course. This year, 37 countries were represented, but the winner was a Briton. He completed the torture course in 1 hour and 36 minutes.
Despite the difficulty of the race, some runners managed to come to the starting line in costumes.
Difficult words: obstacle course (a race with things which make the race hard), torture (when something is very difficult or hurtful for you), despite (the race is difficult, but it still cannot stop some runners from wearing a costume).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
