Trump cannot run for president in Maine – level 1
04-01-2024 07:00
In the state of Maine, Donald Trump cannot be in the president election in 2024. A top official says that. The reason is what happens at the Capitol.
In Colorado, the situation is the same. They use a rule called the 14th Amendment. It says that if someone causes problems against the government, he or she cannot be a president. Trump’s team will talk to the courts about this. California still lets Trump be on their list for the president election.
Some people say that the situation in Maine is not fair. It is only about politics. Those who like Trump do not agree with this choice. They think that a top court must decide soon.
Difficult words: election (when people vote a person for an important job), amendment (an article which is a part of the US Constitution), choice (what you choose to do).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are some potential reasons behind the state of Maine's decision to exclude Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential election and how might Trump's team respond to this?
