US health insurance company wants too much money – level 1

26-02-2025 07:00

The US government is checking if UnitedHealth asks for extra money for Medicare patients. UnitedHealth says it does not know about this.

It says it does nothing wrong. After the news, the company loses value. Other health insurance companies also have problems.

UnitedHealth is already in legal trouble because of another case about Medicare. Some experts think the stock drop is too big. Only some of its customers use Medicare Advantage. The company is also asking workers if they want to leave their jobs. The government is still looking at UnitedHealth’s business.

Difficult words: patient (a sick person), value (how much money you need to buy something), insurance (a deal in which you pay company money, and they pay your costs if you have an accident or injury).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What connections can be made among the legal issues involving Medicare, the notable drop in stock value, and the decision to ask employees about leaving their jobs?
