War in Yemen – level 1

There is a civil war in Yemen. It starts in 2015. Saudi Arabia backs one side. Iran backs the other side. Right now, there is a fight for Hodeida. Hodeida is an important port city.

Due to the fighting, people cannot get food. Many people die in the city. Schools and hospitals are hit by the war.

This war is terrible. Between 2015 and 2018, 10,000 people die.

Difficult words: civil war (a war between the people of one country), back (help), side (a group of people), port (a place by the sea where ships can come and bring things or people).
