Over 10,000 men in Aceh, a territory located at the northern end of Sumatra, broke the national record for the largest Saman dance performed simultaneously.

Saman is one of the most popular dances in Indonesia and UNESCO recognised it in 2011. The dance of a thousand hands is traditionally performed by the Acehnese once a year to show unity after the harvest.

The Director General of Culture explained that the event is a proof that common people still uphold their culture and the dance also shows tremendous unity of the people.
