Gun Control in Australia – level 1
20-10-2017 15:00
In Australia, thousands of people turn in their guns. They turn in 52,000 guns that the government does not know about. All of this is part of gun amnesty. Australia has strict gun laws. This is because of a mass shooting in 1996.
The Australian Prime Minister talks about gun laws. He says that it is important to continue them. He talks about the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas, USA. He says that the shooter could not get so many guns in Australia.
The gun amnesty ends one day before the Las Vegas mass shooting.
Difficult words: gun amnesty (when you are not in trouble for having a gun that you are not supposed to have), strict (very tough), mass shooting (when a person shoots many people).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
