Protests Over Immigrants – level 1

Since 2015, 1 million migrants move to Germany. This makes some people unhappy. In Chemitz, Germany, there is a killing. People say that immigrants kill a German citizen.

Thousands of people come together to protest. They wear black. They hold a mourning march.

People get violent during the protests. Police have to stop some people. There are also people who want to help immigrants. The police keep them away from the protesters.

Difficult words: citizen (someone who is from a country and lives there for a long time), mourning march (when people walk together to show respect to someone who died), violent (when people attack each other).
