Coca Cola Science – level 3
31-05-2019 15:00
According to a report from the University of Cambridge, Coca Cola can review and possibly repress information from its health research. It can also stop research if the findings are ‘unfavourable’.
This could lead to publication bias which is something that happens when someone publishes only studies of their choice. However, the researchers do not believe that Coca Cola has done that yet.
Coca Cola says that its scientists have full control over their studies. It says that it does not have the right to stop the publishing of research results.
Nevertheless, researchers are worried, and they are asking Coca Cola and other companies to publish lists of their cancelled studies.
Difficult words: repress (keep down, keep quiet), unfavourable (not good).
