Russia Nuclear Explosion – level 2

In August 2019, there was an explosion at a Russian military base, and it killed at least 5 people. The US said that Russia tested a new nuclear weapon.

There is a village near the base. Some people saw the explosion, and they said that they did not get any information about the explosion for 4 hours. People worried about the radiation, and they did not want to eat fruit from their gardens. However, officials said that it was safe to eat because the wind blew the other way.

Today, people worry about the effect of the radiation. They are angry because they do not have any official information about the radiation.

Difficult words: military base (a place where soldiers work and live and where military actions start), nuclear weapon (a very dangerous bomb or rocket that can kill many people), radiation (a special energy that comes from nuclear weapons and other things and is very dangerous to people’s health).
