Car Companies Help – level 3

The US company, Ford, joins automakers General Motors, Chrysler, and Tesla that are turning their attention to combating coronavirus.
Ford is teaming up with companies 3M and GE Healthcare to produce medical equipment for first responders working to address the coronavirus outbreak. The Ford CEO, Jim Hackett, said that the production will be like a puzzle. Some parts will be made inside Ford, and some parts will be made at outside suppliers. Hackett compared the coordination and the speed of work to a conventional assembly line.
Ford is working with 3M to manufacture powered air-purifying respirators and with GE Healthcare to expand production of a version of GE’s existing ventilator design. Ford also plans to assemble more than 100,000 plastic face shields per week, and the company will also use its 3D capabilities to help make disposable respirator masks.
Difficult words: first responder (a person who is among the first to provide assistance in an emergency), conventional assembly line (a traditional series of workers and machines that work together to make things), respirator (a device worn over the mouth and nose to prevent the inhalation of dangerous substances in the air), ventilator (a machine that helps a patient breathe by moving air into and out of the lungs).
